In addition, the agreement strengthens Solvay`s existing obligations in the areas of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination, diversity and environmental protection. It has recently been updated to add new social projects such as workplace mental health protection and social measures. Technology agreements did not really start in the Netherlands, even in the early 1980s, when the effects of technology were the subject of much discussion (Christis et al., 1985). However, there is now an impressive example in Solvay, which could be emulated elsewhere in Europe. The company manufactures soda as a raw material for glass, peroxide (to lighten and/or disinfect objects), perfumes and aromas, and advanced materials for the automotive and aerospace industry. The company employs approximately 24,500 people in 61 Brussels-based countries. Each year, IndustriALL representatives meet with Solvay staff to verify compliance in the field, selecting two joint site assessment missions with IndustriALL. The first mission measures the results of the group`s security policy. The second examines the application of the various characteristics of the agreement: themes: labour relations, participation. The agreement contains provisions relating to workers` participation in important projects, training and skills development, collection and protection of personal data, procedures in the event of dismissal and monitoring of the implementation of the agreement. With this agreement, Solvay is committed to an open, stimulating and constructive dialogue with our employees and their representatives. This dialogue is part of Solvay`s commitments to sustainable development and contributes to the group`s overall performance. Solvay Global Forum of eight trade union representatives solvay from important countries is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the agreement. This Global Forum is an important platform for dialogue between union representatives and workers` representatives. Through this agreement, Solvay is committed to respecting international social norms established by the International Labour Organization and to respecting the principles of the United Nations Global Compact in all its global operations, including those countries that have not yet ratified these conventions. It also contains Solvay`s commitment to OECD guidelines for multinational companies. Solvay expects its suppliers and subcontractors to respect these fundamental principles. Haedlines of the reportThe European Works Council (ERC) has taken the initiative to conclude a comprehensive agreement with management on the management of digitisation. This was achieved in 2019 or so in about 10 months.
